Parent Newsletter for Your Child Care Service

Whatever form your childcare business takes – creche, preschool, day care center, child minding service it is always a lovely idea to have a quarterly newsletter.  Parents really appreciate being able to read about events and activities at their child's child care service.  If you baulk at the idea of putting together a piece of literature…don't worry.  A newsletter doesn't have to be anything fancy and you can enlist the help of all your staff to write little pieces about activities in their particular rooms.

I use microsoft publisher which has easy to use templates for newsletters – you literally fill in the gaps with your information.  Each of my staff gives me notes, ideas, events and news from their particular group. The more inventive among them contribute regular arts and crafts projects and ideas which parents love to try out.  You could have a little cooking section with easy to use recipes for children (ideally one's that you have tried out in the day care).

We have a birthday section where we send wishes out to all children who had birthdays in that period (parents and children love to see their names in print).  The newsletter is great for any announcements i.e. up and coming concerts, requests for donations of clothes for dress up or books from parents, any policy issues that need to be brought to the fore and gentle reminders regarding payment or pick up issues.  If a staff member is leaving or one is starting this is a great way to bid farewell or make introductions.

Your newsletter is a fun way to enhance your communication with parents.
